Print Of Childhood

This piece was made in 2017. I was fresh out of undergrad, living in LA and didn’t have a big studio space to work freely. My art practice was however evolving. I was getting into pastels & I wanted to do larger work, but didn’t have space. One of my neos (ΣΓΡ) told me “You should make more work that has more pieces of yourself in it.” It’s with this in mind I set out to find a bit more of myself.

I’ve always been drawn to bright and colorful things, and I knew I wanted to make art that was like a photo; realistic type of vibe. I entered my community and began to sketch. This idea was birthed from a personal place that is very impactful. This is my interpretation of childhood. This is what my thoughts look like. It’s meant to stir feelings in you. The more I exhibited this piece, the more people would gravitate to it. I made it for people my age, but I realized that it has an intergenerational connection.
